Irene’s Floral Home Decoration!

Irene’s Floral Home Decoration!

Hi everyone…a slightly belated Happy New Year to you all!

I don’t know if you are the same as me when it comes to this time of year? Everywhere you look seems a little bit bare, now that the tree and decorations are packed away. Obviously the cold weather doesn’t help either, so what better way to cheer myself up than by making a bright, floral piece of home decor using the Buds to Blooms Perfect Peonies photopolymer stamp set! Bring a little bit of colour into the home while we wait for the Spring to arrive (hopefully soon!)

I started this piece by taking an A4 piece of water colour card to stamp the flowers on to. Using a black waterproof ink pad (I used Spectrum Noir Finesse), I stamped the largest detail bloom and the smaller detail flower either side, before adding the leaf stamp all around. For this design I didn’t want the branch, so I only inked the leaf, filling in any parts of the stamp missing with a black pen. Once I was happy with my design, I coloured it using Spectrum Noir Aqua pencils.

I have a little tip to share with you! Once you have used up all the liquid in your sparkle overlay pens, don’t discard them! Instead, refill the barrel of the pen with water, then use them to colour in your water-based products. You will continue to see the sparkle throughout your work no matter how many times you refill. I do this with all of them!

Once my design was coloured in, I finished with a touch of white gel pen for highlights. I then trimmed my A4 cardstock, and cut it into three pieces, with the middle piece slightly larger. This design was mounted onto a 12×12 inch piece of mount-board.

Once I adhered the panels on to the mount-board, I added the writing, some doodles and faux stitching using a fineliner pen, and added some lovely little dots with my white gel pen. All that was left to do, using my good old glue gun, was to add my artificial flowers and a couple of bows to finish.

A little bit of colour inside, while the weather is a bit dreary outside. I hope you like this project as much as I do 🙂

See you soon…lots of love,
Irene xxx
